The following is a post I wrote for a blog called Grace for Moms. I wrote about overcoming fear in pregnancy, but for those who are not pregnant, you can apply this teaching to every area of life. Whatever you are facing right now, fight fear by meditating on the Word.
From the moment pregnancy is announced we are inundated with advice. Most positive and helpful. Some, not so much. With any hint of concern in pregnancy, couples look for upbeat affirmation.
But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4
While hearing miracles is good for the soul, faith does not only come through testimony. Faith comes by the Word of God. The experience of others can be beneficial, but it is not the Word. The Word of God cannot be substituted for anecdotal evidence.
As with every circumstance in our lives, when trouble comes during pregnancy, the first port of call is the Bible. If you want a realistic report, see your doctor. If you want reason to worry and fear, check the internet. If you want faith for a miracle outcome, meditate on the Word.
