Psalm 91:1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
There is no doubt about it, fear robs rest. Tormented by terror, peace is absent. Worry, stress, and anxiety overwhelm every part of your being. There is no rest.
Hebrews 4:9-11a So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest.
God wants His children to be at ease. He rested on the seventh day because sabbath is more than a nice idea, it is the state of being He desires for us. Calm is a practice of godly life.
The key to finding rest is found in Hebrews 4:10. Rest from your labour. Now I do not mean that you don’t have to work, that your livelihood will be miraculously provided for. The Lord grants rest from toil. Respite in place of stress. You do that when you trust – trust God.
God is good. Other belief systems teach there is a little good in bad, and a little bad in good. That is not Biblical. Others teach karma, where a good begets good, however bad deeds lead to bad consequences. Scripture says that the Most High is all good and He works all things together for good. This is why He is worthy of our trust. You and I can rest knowing in all things, God will work whatever we face together for good. With that knowledge, there is comfort.
So do your best to enter that rest. When life becomes hectic and worry takes over, remind your soul that God is good. Recall the good He has done, and be confident that He will work everything together for good. Find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
