The gift makes a way

It is the time of year when the world is a buzz with Christmas. Baking cookies, pudding, and seafood, if Christmas is an Australian one. We may not have a white Christmas, snuggled up by the fire, but we have many lovely traditions when it is scorching weather outside. Carols by Candlelight is one such tradition.

While watching a Carols event on television last night, I was awestruck by the favour upon the Salvation Army. The event was shamelessly raising thousands of dollars for the charity.

It was then that God reminded me of Proverbs 18:16, “Giving a gift can open doors; it gives access to important people!”

Through generous giving, the Salvation Army has open doors with television personalities and politicians. Their gift of kindness to the needy has opened many doors.

Never underestimate the power of a gift. However large or small, gifts always open doors. Other translations say, “A gift makes way for the giver.” If you feel trapped or confused this Christmas, know that as you give, the Lord makes a way for you. He opens doors. He bestows favour.

Give grace and love, all Christmas long.
