Light: Mountain

Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.

See a light in the darkness
A city shining without a veil
A hill becoming a mountain
A solid rock that will never fail

– Hillsong Music, Mountain

Sometimes I feel small, overwhelmed by darkness. What impact does my light have? I feel like it makes no difference at all.

All I have is my life, so I give it. Despite my inadequacy, I obey. I immerse myself in the Word. I worship and allow heaven to come down. With unveiled face I behold Jesus, reflect His glory, and shine.

Then I see my light is not little. I am a city on a hill. A hill becoming a mountain. Something powerful. Something immovable. Strong. Closer to heaven. Closer to touching Jesus. To pulling Kingdom down to earth.

Matthew 7:24-25 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.

Jesus is never-failing, solid rock. I put my trust in Him. And as I do, He builds the mountain. I become solid. I become reliable. A foundation others can build on, because I am built on Him.

Philippians 2:15 Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

Oh, sweet Jesus. I want to shine for all the world to see. Make me a mountain. May I shine a like star in the world. For Your name. For Your glory. Amen.
