Love the Lord

There are lots of things we teach our kids. We teach them to ride bikes, swim, read, and more. The most important thing to teach our children is none of these things. Deuteronomy 6:5 tells us:

And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.

The most important thing to teach our children is to love God. Deuteronomy 6:1-8 says to talk about it often: when you’re at home, out, about to go to bed. In other words, make teaching your children to love the Lord is a lifestyle.

Children are sponges. They absorb everything that is going on. Whether you are expecting your first child, or grandparent of many, make loving the Lord your lifestyle. May your love for Him seamlessly flow out of you, and into your children. You will teach them many things over the years, allow loving God to be top of the list.
