With the start of a new year, many people embark on new resolutions and goals. Perhaps you have too. Often people set out to work on externals like losing weight or finding a new job. That’s great, but real change starts with what you think. If you get your thinking right, change will happen on the outside.
Here’s an excerpt from Make Yourself Amazing:
Thinking doesn’t just happen. You choose what you think about, and you can change those thoughts and how you think them. There are many powerful people in the world, but the most powerful person is the one who controls his thoughts.[Twee “The most powerful person is the one who controls his thoughts.”]
My friend Christine Caine compares our thoughts to a train, as in a “train of thought.” She tells of the day when, as a teenager, she was standing on the station platform going home from school. She didn’t pay much attention to the conductor, so when a train pulled up on her platform, she jumped on. After she sat down and got comfortable for the ride home, she realized it was the wrong train.
If you aren’t paying attention, a certain train of thought can come along and take you in a direction you don’t want to go. Pay attention to your thoughts so that when the wrong train of thought races through your mind, you won’t randomly hop on. Use your thoughts and think about the right things so you will get where you want to go.
Let’s start the year by thinking right. Get on the right train of thought and leave unhealthy thinking alone. Check out my article on Crosswalk.com for more insight and keep reading Make Yourself Amazing.
How will your thinking change in 2015? I’d love to hear.
